I have painted an owl as part of the The Big Hoot Auckland 2018. The Big Hoot is a large scale art trail event that will be swooping through the streets of Auckland City and its surrounds for ten weeks from 3 March to 6 May 2018. My owl "To the Land where the Ponga Tree Grows" is located on the corner of Quay Street and Albert Street in the Auckland CBD.
There are a total of 47 giant owls - all individually designed by Kiwi and International artists. Other artists who have created owls include Dick Frizzell, Jeff Thomson, Flox, Peata Larkin, Wayne Youle, Anna Leyland, Weilun Ha and Grace Wright, along with some of New Zealand’s most exciting up and coming creatives.
At the end of the event, each large Owl will be auctioned to raise funds to help the Child Cancer Foundation to support children with cancer and their families throughout New Zealand. The auction will take place on May 29.
I am very proud to have been selected to participate in this fantastic event. My owl's name turned out to be Tabitha and here she is surveying the Blackmore & Best Art Gallery on a beautiful Wellington day... :-)
