Tukituki & the Taonga - SOLD
SOLD
Size: 155 x 55cm
Medium: Gold-leaf, inks, impasto glazes on extra-deep canvas (6.5cm), ready to hang.
Influenced by the majestic form of Te Mata Peak (such a local treasure) with the Tukituki brilliantly below. This painting is equally inspired by the atmospheric beauty and illuminating landscapes of Aotearoa. If I were a poet I would write light filled love letters to New Zealand... essentially these paintings are just that - my visual declarations of love and respect to this land.
The strong horizon line and possibilities of what lies beyond. The taonga and treasure that is this wonderful land we live on is shown with respect and aroha with lots hand applied gold-leaf. The landform glowing differently in whatever way you approach the artwork. The many layers in the water and sky allows a different reading of the painting with different times of the day casting changing light.
